About us and our programme
Our kindergarten, near the banks of Te Awakairangi and the base of Pūrehurehu in Trentham, Upper Hutt, has been part of the community for over 40 years. During this time, we have developed close relationships with local schools and our community.
We are a welcoming, diverse, friendly and well-resourced kindergarten. We provide high quality teaching and learning interactions which build and extend on children’s thinking and learning.
We offer spacious, green outdoor areas where children have the opportunity to explore and engage in physical challenges.
Sustainability is a key feature in our kindergarten as tamariki are empowered to learn about creating sustainable communities through the Enviroschools programme. We all take part in caring for our beautiful trees and plants, our worm farm, and the birds that visit us.
Our teaching team is made up of five fully qualified and registered teachers and one administrator. As a team we are committed to living our kindergarten philosophy of Aumangea (resilience); Manaakitanga (respect); Mana Atua ā Whenua (wellbeing and belonging); Wānanga Kōrero (communication); Whanaungatanga (togetherness); and Pākiki (wonder and curiosity).
We value responsive and reciprocal relationships with tamariki and whānau: our goal is for every child and adult to feel a sense of belonging and wellbeing at Cottle Kindergarten, and to be inspired to play, learn and connect.
The team
